Wireless Printing Support?
by admin on ก.ย..10, 2009, under Deskjet Help Forums
Hey!
Ok here is my case. I have a HP Photosmart C5280 connected directly to my Windows Desktop via USB. My Desktop gets Internet connectivity via an Ethernet connection to a Network Hub that is connected to a router/VoiP Box which is then connected directly to the modem.
Let me run that again,
Modem — VoiP Box/Router — NetGear Switch — Desktop PC &&& Belkin Pre-N Wireless Router.
My issue that I need support with is this:
I want my laptop [Macbook Pro running Tiger] to be able to print wirelessly to that printer.
Can anyone be of assistance, I would really appreciate your help.
THANKS!
P.S. I have both laptop and desktop configured with static ip’s.

In a nutshell, you will need to set up a Workgroup network, then enable sharing for the printer. Next, the MacBook Pro will need to browse for the Workgroup, then connect to any shared resources such as the printer.
Here are the steps…
Windows XP
1. Right-click MY COMPUTER, then select PROPERTIES
2. Click the COMPUTER NAME tab, then click CHANGE
3. In the ‘Member of’ section, select WORKGROUP
4. Type the name of your Workgroup, such as IRONCHEF (or whatever you’d like)
5. Click OK, then agree to restart your computer in the upcoming prompts
6. After restarting your computer, click START
7. Click PRINTERS AND FAXES
8. Right-click the printer, then select SHARING
9. In the SHARING tab, select SHARE THIS PRINTER, then click OK
MacBook Pro
Accessing the printer requires quite a few steps, a few twists and turns. Better to refer you to my information source: http://pcworld.about.com/magazine/2312p1…
Scroll down to MAKE THE CONNECTION. You’ll see Figure 2. The instructions are in the paragraph right below it.
Good luck!
