Why Does My Hp Photosmart C4180 Make My Computer Start Up Slowly?
Filed in Deskjet Help Forums on ก.ย..18, 2009
I have an HP photosmart c4180 hooked up to my Dell PC. For the last couple of months, whenever I turn on my PC while the printer is on, the computer goes through the Dell screen, and then sits on a black screen with the flashing white line that you see in DOS for at least ten minutes before Windows starts up. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer, but it doesn’t help. If the printer is off the computer starts up fine.

Like many printers, the printer installed software that is looking for updates, checking your version, insuring the printer is on-line and calling mommy for any instructions.
Use ‘ msconfig ‘ in the command line to see all the startup items HP puts in. Turn them off in startup and you’ll be fine.
