Transferring Pictures From Computer To Camera?
I have a Canon Ixus 80 camera and a computer running on Vista. I’ve lost the usb cable for my HP photosmart printer, and want to put pictures onto my camera’s memory card so I can print them.
Problem is, although these pictures were taken with a canon camera, when i go to copy them onto my camera, an error message pops up about how the file has one or more properties outside of device limits. When I tried before, i couldn’t see the picture on my camera and couldn’t print it off properly from my photo printer when i copied it onto my camera’s memory card. The error message says that I should use a program to change the file properties, but I don’t know what program to use and what properties to change. The files are all jpeg., just like those on my camera. Could the problem be to do with the size of the file? All advice is appreciated.

As a rule cameras will not read an image file that they did not create and they will not read it once it has been modified in a computer. The HP printer should be able to read the files though, even if the camera can’t.
I really suggest that you get yourself another USB cable, they aren’t expensive and it will save possibly have problems with improperly formatted cards in you camera.
BTW, although the normal HP USB cord is non standard, most HP Photosmart printers that I have seen also have a standard USB port on the front to take things like thumb a drive. Have you tried a standard USB cable?

Not sure this will help with all of the problems, but as to the USB cable: any USB cable that has the matching ends (USB-USB, USB-Mini, etc.) will work. Does not have to be the one they provided.

Don’t bother with cables or special software!
The easiest and best method to download photos and video from your camera to your computer is via a little USB card reader (which are quite cheap these days).
Card readers also work for moving photos from the computer onto a card.
Plug the reader into a USB port and insert the memory card.
It will show up as a drive, and you can simply drag and drop the photos across to the folder of your choice.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…
However, don’t expect to view files on your camera (after you moved them from your computer back to the card). The downloading itself (and even more so any changes you might have made to the file) changes something in the file. As a result, many cameras no longer recognize it. Besides, memory cards aren’t meant for permanent storage, and there are MANY better ways to display photos than on your tiny screen.
But it can come in handy if you just want to transfer a few photos onto the card so you can get them printed.

most cheap USB Cables are not very durable and it can cause errors in data transfers too `
