HP Deskjet printer buying guide

I have a Mac, and I’m trying to hook up my printer to it. I have the USB cord, and connected it, but when I install the HP Photosmart CD that came with the printer, the setup assistant asks me to select a printer, yet there is none there to select. I’m at a loss for what I need to do, so suggestions are VERY helpful.

i have to print my essay and its saying in order to add a printer i need to pick the “driver” that i’m using and i have noooo idea what to pick the printer that i have though is “HP Photosmart C4680″ can anyone help me with this pleasee?

We bought a new printer yesterday (HP Photosmart C4585) and have 2 problems…
1 - We ‘removed’ Norton anti-virus when we bought the computer ages ago, because we prefer a different program. However, there seems to be a bit of Norton remaining, and this is refusing to allow the printer software to load. We can’t uninstall Norton again as the computer says it’s been done, and we can’t access Norton to allow the printer software to load because it says we don’t have Norton access to do anything about it…!
2 - Our other problem is that the bit of printer software that did load has added an HP toolbar to our internet browser, with stuff like HP Smart Deals & HP create. I know we can hide them, but we just don’t want these things running - they won’t be removed either!!
What can we do to resolve either of these problems? We’ve been left with a printer we can’t use, and a toolbar that we can - but very much don’t want!
