I had the same problem with my all-in-one from HP. Go to the HP web site and search the KB. They have a piece of software that I believe you download and it diagnoses and fixes the problem with scanning.

Ugh, I’m fed up. I got a free HP Photosmart printer/scanner with my macbook, and it was hooked up in my room. I had to plug my computer in in order to print or scan, but I didn’t mind having to do that, because it worked fine. Then our printer downstairs broke, so my parents hooked up my printer so that our two other computers could print to it. Anyway, they set it up so that my laptop could print to it wirelessly, but I cannot scan anymore. Whenever I try to scan, I get a message on the tiny screen that says “USB not connected”. I can’t even scan to the computer that it is physically hooked up to. This is getting on my nerves because I have some pictures that I really want to scan to the computer. Any help would be appreciated.
i’ve just set up my new hp photosmart c4480. i’ve successfully managed to print documents from the computer and copy an image straight through the printer.
however, i cannot scan an image to my laptop. i run mac os x 10.5.6 and i’ve installed the latest software from the hp site.
i’ve called tech support who just told me to download the latest software etc.
the problem seems to be with the hp scan pro software. it opens up, but then it won’t do anything else. i can’t tell it to scan or anything.
does anybody have the same problem or know how to fix it?
is there another program i can use to scan with?
I just bought a computer and this printer came with it and I’m having trouble scanning to my PC. It says something about documentation and to scan from the PC itself. Has anyone had this problem? If so how do you fix it? By the way I installed my printer using the basic printing driver off the HP website. I still have the software that came with it though. I’m just wondering if it that has anything to do with it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have the HP Photosmart 3180 all-in-one scanner/copier/printer, and when I go to scan something, it scans it all fine, etc. but then it closes the HP Scanning program automatically – so it has to restart every time I want to scan something. This is fine if I’m just scanning one or two things, but when I’m sitting and scanning for hours, it’s frustrating and wastes time.
