HP Deskjet printer buying guide

i have a laptop and a desktop connected to a home net work the desktop is the one that has the printer connected to it and the laptop is connected wirelessly through a net gear router, i can view the jobs in the print queue on the desktop from the laptop, but the printer is not printing the jobs i have a hp photosmart 7100series printer and both computers are running xp home edition what do i do?

I have a network established with my PC and my printer is on the network through my PC. However in order for me to connect to the printer with my laptop, I need to connect to the network first which means I must have my PC always on. Is there a way to bypass the network and just connect to the printer? It has wireless capabilities. The printer model is a HP Photosmart C4580

My Hp Photosmart 2600 is connected to my network using an ethernet cable that goes from the printer to my router. It used to work fine (after adding it though control panel on a laptop you could print from anywhere) but after I got a new router (a netgear) after you add it, it works fine but after a while (like after disconnecting from the network and then coming back and reconnecting) it doesn’t print and in control panel it says it is offline, after I delete it and re-add it, it works perfectly until the next time I reconnect. Is there a way to fix it so that I don’t have to re-add it every time?

Here’s the details: HP Photosmart 3210 Printer
Belkin Wireless G Router
The printer is connected by USB to the desktop computer.
I can get online via the network from the desktop or the laptop.
When I try plugging the printer’s ethernet cable into the router, it seems to disrupt the whole network and I can’t even get online. It says”little or no connectivity.”
By the way, the network is screwy too. It randomly goes offline and i have to unplug the router and plug it in again.
What’s going on?
