HP Deskjet printer buying guide

ok im having problems with my printer i tried just about everything i can think of i made sure the light was on in the printer, i made sure it had color and checked to see if it needed ink but everything was fine.and every time i go to the the solution center of my hp it says HP Deskjet Disconnected how do i connect it back?

My family just bought an HP Photosmart C4280 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, and Copier. Everything went well except for one thing, when I plugged in the USB and let the driver software install, a screen came up that said:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
HP Photosmart C4200 Series
The specified module could not be found.
I’ve already tried the following:
1) Unplugging and re-plugging the USB cord
2) Re-installing the printer software
3) Looking at HP’s site (they didn’t have anything for that particular problem)
PLEASE HELP ME. It’s crucial that the printer work, I have many assignments coming up that MUST be printed.

Your question is very vague. It could be numerous things, without more detailed description of your problem it is hard for anybody to help you. Is it plugged it? Is it properly attached to the computer? Is it turned on? Are the drivers installed correctly? It could be out of ink… It’s hard for anyone to guess.
Please provide more details and maybe we can help you better.

I tried reading other questions, but not of it made sense. I have a Dell, and my operating system is Vista. Some people were saying that the HP printer won’t work with a Vista. When ever I click print on the photosmart thing it comes with, it says its printing, but nothings happening. I’m not sure if I didn’t put the paper in the right spot, or if my mom didn’t set it up right. Is the paper supposed to go on the top or the bottom?
I also read that you should go to the hp.com site and download drivers or something? But shouldn’t that be on the CD? I think my mom already installed the CD into the computer, because there are new icons on my desktop. What should I do?

My sister was about to print her assignment for school, but the printer won’t work!
It kept on repeating its error of paper jam but there isn’t any paper jam!
I’m sick and tired of doing anything just to make it work and I’m tempted to whack it with my arm!!!
