HP Deskjet printer buying guide

This is my printer that i bought on July 18, 2010. And Its a good printer after using it for a while. And the print quality is pretty nice. Its a 3-in-1 printer so it has Copy, Print, Scan. You can choose from Black or Color for Scan or Copy. well im looking for a monochrome laser printer to print my class’s notes…which are usually in pdf, and some contain alot of images ( mostly useless, but its a pdf and i cant edit it) so the image quality of the printer isnt a big priority, although good/decent images would be nice. Anyway, the main reason for laser instead of ink is because my current HP photosmart uses ink alot and gotta replace very frequently, i realized buying a laser printer would save me much more $ in the long run, anyone have good suggestions? (preferably under 200$)

I was given a hp photosmart c3180 printer. This is my first one and besides having difficulty in setting it up I dont know what kind of ink and paper it needs. What kind of ink and paper does it need? How much does each coast and does it last awhile? Is there any website that I can find a manual so i can figure out how to use it? I was not given this stuff.
