“colour Cartridge Not Compatible” !!!!!!?

I ahve a HP Photosmart 1000 printer and its bene great fro 5 years! The cartridges are costly so we use compatible but cheaper cartridges. I have one from “Office Depot”. Yesterday the printer suddenly displayed this message: “Colour cartridge not compatible”. I turned it off and on again and it was fine. Now its doing the same thing but wont respond when i switch on and off. Any ideas? I need it urgently!!!!

Is Hp Deskjet D1420 Printer Compatible With Compaq Fs7600 Computer?

As the first response indicates, it isn’t so much the hardware that is the concern but rather the operating system and the drivers for that operating system that allow the two to be compatible.
Scott L – Not all HP printers are compatible with all windows (assuming you mean MS Windows and not another operating system with a windows desktop – gnome, xwindows, kde, etc…) operating systems. The hardware manufacturer (HP in this case) writes software drivers to allow the OS to communicate to the device. If the manufacturer hasn’t written the driver, in most cases you can’t get the device to work or you’ll have limited functionality. For example, my nVidia drivers have missing functionality from MS Windows XP on the MS Windows Vista operating system. On MS Windows Vista, I can’t set separate desktop wallpapers but I was able to do that on earlier MS operating systems.
What I would recommend is checking the HP website for the printer model and verify that HP has a driver that works with the operating system on your computer.
