It is not cartridge related. I think it has to do with my computer settings (which I do not know how to reset for this particular printer.

My husband bought me a new computer (compaq presario notebook pc) and it has windows vista on it. In trying to install my printer (hp photosmart 7850) it said it can’t install because the OS needs to be Windows XP which is what I had.
