Printer Sharing Between Xp - Vista Systems?
by admin on ม.ค..12, 2010, under Deskjet Help Forums
I have a question about sharing printers. I am fixing a few networking issues with a friend’s computer, specifically trying to connect them on a local home network. One system is running Windows XP SP 2, and the other is running Windows Vista, SP 1. The Vista system is newer, but the XP System is about six years old. I was able to create a shared folder that resides on both desktops in order to facilitate file transfer between units, and that works just fine. When trying to share the printers, I ran into a problem. The printer, connected to the Vista unit, is an HP Photosmart 7000 series. I went about sharing the printer through the control panel, as I normally would, and installed the latest drivers from hp.com. Then, I installed the same driver package on the XP system, choosing the option to “not connect the printer at this time”, but to otherwise install the same drivers and software. Now, when it comes to linking up the XP computer to the Vista one, in terms of printers, I am able to do a network search and see the Vista computer, and the correct printer ID when I do a “find printer” search through the printer dialogue boxes, but when I select it, I get an error talking about incorrect drivers. Can anybody help me figure this one out? I have used these steps before to network a Brother MFC-440CN all-in-one connected to an XP SP3 system in my own home to allow my hp laptop, running Vista, to print wirelessly by running the request through that particular printer shared through my home network, so I’m not sure what is wrong with this similar process? Is it correct to install the same software driver packages on both computers? Should I use the mfr. cd instead (if my friend has it)? I know that I have the correct driver package, but not sure if there are different versions for XP and Vista that are having trouble interacting. Any ideas are greatly appreciated, because I feel like I am almost there, since I know the two computers can network, because of the shared folder, and I can find the correct printer on the network navigating to it through Network Neighborhood on the XP system. Thanks.
Whats The Difference Between A Deskjet Printer & An Inkjet Printer?
by admin on ม.ค..06, 2010, under Deskjet Help Forums
Both are printers that create images by depositing liquid ink onto paper via a piezoelectric print head. The term ‘Deskjet’ is used my Hewlett Packard to describe their line of ink jet printers. ‘Inkjet printers’ is a generic term which can be applied to any liquid ink printer that uses piezoelectric printing mechanisms.
Piezoelectric printing mechanisms are comprised of tiny chambers made of quartz crystal, which has the unique quality of expanding when an electrical current is passed through it. The chambers are kept filled with ink via capillary action, and printing occurs when a current causes the ink to be pumped into a second chamber, then expelled as soon as the current is removed and the chamber returns to it’s original size. If you listen to an piezoelectric printer while it’s printing, you can just make out the high pitch noise of the ink ejecting from the print head at supersonic speeds.
There are other liquid printing systems, such as the electromagnetic deflection, continuous delivery printers from Indigo, but they are rare compared to inkjet devices. Canon uses electrochemical ink propulsion technology rater than piezoelectric technologies. Canon ‘Bubblejet’ printers essentially boil a tiny drop of ink suspended in a volatile solvent, causing a tiny burst of dye to strike the paper in the printer.

by admin on ธ.ค..16, 2009, under Deskjet Help Forums
I have a Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart D5069 printer. I need to print my digital artwork out for use in my portfolio. Unfortunately I can’t afford to have my work professionally printed and need to do it all on my home printer. So now I’m trying to figure out which color cartridge would give me the best results possible, the HP #95 color cartridge or the HP #99 Photo cartridge? I can only afford to buy one black cartridge and then either the photo (99) or the color(95.)
So does anyone personally have experience with both of these cartridges and which of the 2 produce the best image quality? If it helps I’m printing artwork that was made entirely in programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. A lot of the work contains a wide range of colors and subtle gradients. I’ll also be using Glossy HP Advanced Photo Paper to print each one. Thanks in advance!
