Question About Ink Cartridges For Home Printers? Was This Guy Trying To Rip Me Off?
by admin on พ.ย..01, 2009, under Deskjet Help Forums
I have a HP Photosmart A520 printer. I wanted to buy a refill cartridge and some photo paper.
For 120 sheets and an ink cartridge it was €35.99 for the canon version
The same amount cost €65.00 but was ‘hp’ brand.
Do you actually have to buy the same cartridge as your printer or was this guy just ripping me off?

There is no such thing as “Canon version”. Canon does not make refill ink for HP, and vice versa. The cart may look similar, but they are quite different inside.
You can try to have the cart refilled at most Walgreens and/or Office Max stores for $10-$15 or so. Or buy refilled versions of the same cart for a bit more (about $25-30 instead of $45-50).

The cartridge has to fit in your printer; however a lot of cartridges may FIT in it but may not print with it– on your cartridge, there is a patch of electronic nozzles which connect to your printer and that is how the cartridge knows what to print where and when…if the cartridge doesn’t match up to the printer with those electrical nozzles, then the print may not come out the way you want it, or at all…
it may be different with the photosmart cartridges, but thats how it works with regular printer cartridges…

Typically you have to buy the same brand cartridge as the printer make. However, if your cannon cartridge does specify that it will work in an HP printer, then I guess you could use the cheaper cartridge. However, I would make sure it says that on the back of the box.http://inkjetinkcartridge.net/index.php?…

You really do have to buy the same - Or one that states that it is compatible with your printer.
That’s how the printer makers get you - It’s the ink that makes them the money, not the printer itself.

You have to buy the correct cartridge for your printer.
