My Usb Camera Cable Is No Longer Recognized By My Computer…?
I have an Hp Photosmart R725v model digital camera. I use it constantly and transfer pics from it to my computer constantly. Well just recently I plugged the usb camera cable into my computer and all of a sudden it is no longer recognizing the camera. It gives me the message “USB Device Not Recognized—One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.” It literally worked one day then the next day didn’t work anymore.
I need some ideas on what to try to get it to work again. I dont think there is anything wrong with my USB ports because I have an HP printer plugged into the same port that I was using to plug in my camera and it works fine with the printer. How common is it for USB Camera Cables to go bad? Should I buy a new one?

First thing you have to find out is if it’s really your cable that’s gone bad. While it’s the usual suspect, there’s very little chance that it’s the cable. Check the contact points (copper plates which connects to the end of your cable) of your camera. It only takes a grain of salt and some humidity to clog these metallic conduits. Also, if you’ve dropped your camera, it might cause some of the circuitry inside the camera to get busted.
Since you mentioned that your USB-connected printer works, it’s unlikely that there’s something wrong with the USB port of your pc.
Buying a cable won’t really cost you much, but if it’s the camera that’s busted, you have an even biger problem.

It’s probably quite rare for the USB cable to stop working.
A new USB cable is dirt cheap..so if I were you, I would just buy a new one to see if the problem goes away.
But, if you have the same problem, then it could actually be the contact pins in the camera’s usb connector port.
If that’s the case…you might have to think about using a card reader instead.
good luck…

try a different cable or your software is to old you may have to reinstall your soft ware or get a upgrade you can also recheck in control panel
