Ok so i have the HP Deskjet F4180, and it copies and prints just fine, but when i press the SCAN button, the on/off switch just blinks, and then nothing happens! I went on the HP site, but it was no help at all! How can i get this to scan?

HP’s are fussy. Even if you press the scan button , it won’t work. You need to remove the USB cable from the HP, power it on and THEN, re-install the software that came with the unit.
You will re-connect the USB cable only when the software asks you to. Let it finish setup and REBOOT the computer.
Once it is in windows, go in the HP folder under the START menu. Click on HP Solution Center and you will find the SCAN button on the left. PUt your document face down ont he glass and select SCAN. THe light will automatically come on.
I sugget to go in the scanner setup and set it to 300 dpi for decent scans

You are probably using Windows Vista Basic or Premium. HP has not come out with a downloadable patch for the Driver. I had this same problem too. In order to scan you must open the application called Paint in accessories under the start menu. Once it opens click file and click get from Scanner or Camera.

sOME PEOPLE HERE HAVE GIVEN YOU THE CORRECT ADVICE – ON HOW TO MAKE AN hp sCANNER WORK. iF YOU EXPECT ANY HELP FROM hp PEOPLE OR THEIR HELPLINE- FORGET IT. HP is one of the worst consumer friendly companies. They have sold their product – and now whether it works or not, it is your headache.
In future be careful while buying an HP product.
