My Hard Drive Is Coming Up As A Printer On Windows Xp.?

When I connect my hard drive (usb) to my computer, it no longer shows up as a hard drive. Instead, it says HP Photosmart C4200. I have an HP printer hooked up to this computer and when I hook up the hard drive t just puts another HP Photosmart C4200 in the My Computer folder as if i have 2 of them.
This renders my hard drive inaccessible.

With some printer which have card slots for cameras, they sometimes act like another USB port. This is providing the your printer is connected via USB.
Try unplugging one when using the other, if it works then there is definite conflict and you may need to reinstall the printer drivers.

You need to update your USB drivers at your computer brand’s website.
