Is Filling Ink Cartridges Bad For Your Printer?
Filed in Deskjet Help Forums on ก.ย..30, 2009
I have an HP Photosmart printer and was thinking of filling the ink cartridges instead of purchasing new ones when they run out because of the savings. BUT, I’m unsure if this may run any risks/damage to my printer. Please let me know…and please share any experiences. Thanks!

You can do it yourself. I have an HP Photosmart and I do them myself. Every printer I’ve ever had (all makes) I have done it with and one printer I had for 5 years and I can tell you it has never damaged anything. The logic is – how can it? This is a manufactures and cartridge seller propaganda to get us to buy their products! If it really did damage no one would buy the refill kits and as plenty do then……….. Once you get the hang of doing it you will save a fortune. You will have to replace the cartridge about every third fill in my experience as then it goes a bit, but that is only a fourth of the amount you would spend so is a good deal.
Follow the instructions on the ink refill packet and don’t overfill them as it will leak. You will learn to fine tune you filling abilities as you get more confident. When filling colour take care NOT to fill the wrong color as this will contaminate the cartridge and print everything green and you will then need to buy a new one as the colors have merged. If you do get them filled at the shop then they should know what they are doing.

Firstly, you need to know the risk of using refill ink. Probably the printer head will get stuck after certain times. But it is depends on the quality of your refill ink pack. Is recommended your get know to your printer type.
Catridges without printer head — Don’t refill too much time on same catridges since catridges was cheap.
Catridges with built-in printer head — Better use refill ink to reduce the cost because new catridges was expensive. Just make sure you get the suitable refill ink pack in based on the printing quality.

I have refilled cartridges for years…. HP epsom lexmark… without any problems at all… Just make sure you follow the instructions so the cartridges dont leak. There are no real risks… its easy to do too.
Good luck
