My new laptop has windows vista and microsoft word 2007. It has wifi but cant find my wireless able printer(HP Photosmart C4580). So i either need to be able to install my printer wirelesly (without the installation CD) or be able to convert my 2007 Microsoft word documents to Word Perfect so i can save them on a flash drive and bring them to my desktop. Word Perfect says it cant recognize the document when it is opened. PLEASE HELP, i have homework to do:(

If your desktop machine has Windows XP, you may have a simple network printer compatibility problem between it and Windows Vista. Try this:
1. On the Vista machine, get to the Add A Printer dialog (I suspect you’ve recently been there).
2. Click Add a local Printer. (Yes, I know it’s on the network, but trust me.)
3. Click the Create a new port radio button. Leave the type of port set to Local Port.
4. Click the Next button.
5. In the Port Name text box, enter the printer’s name, complete with the other machine’s name (e.g. \BagEndBob’s Printer).
6. Click Next.
7. The Install the printer driver dialog should come up. If the printer isn’t in Windows’ data base, click the Windows Update button and be patient. Almost all HP printers should be in one place or the other.
Hope that helps.

You cannot save Word documents in WordPerfect format but you can open WordPerfect documents in Word. I know it sounds silly that you can do this but not save. Anyhow, open Word, click on the Office Button top left of the ribbon by the side of the quick access toolbar, down to Open and In the Open dialog box, click on the downward arrow by the side of all Word documents, and select WordPerfect 5.x or WordPerfect 6.x. Double click to open and then you can save as 2007 Word.

Okay.
So Download OpenOffice 3.0 from OpenOffice.org and open up your docs and use Save As to save them to a format that Word Perfect likes… Of just replace BOTH office suites with OpenOffice and be done Effing around.
