Hp Psc 1401 Help?

i have a HP PSC1401 its an all in 1 printer scanner copier.. what im trying to do for my mom though is scan a picture so we can send it online.. if pressed the SCAN button but it wont do nothing i downloaded the hp photosmart but i cant see anything that says scan there neither…

Okay, here goes. First of all, remove everything with that printer. Remove the USB cable. Re-download the software, all of it. Re-load the software, do not plug the usb cable in until told to do it by the screen prompts. That should do it. If not, u can go to http://www.hp.com and do an on-line chat with a rep who will help you(free of charge). Also, if you have any registry cleaner software, that will sometimes remove the hpz08.dll file that controls the scanning. I have an HP PSC 1410V. I had the same problem. All is well now.
