HP DeskJet unboxing & screen print
Filed in Hp Deskjet Video on ส.ค..03, 2010
“Unboxing” and testing out a new Hewlett Packard DeskJet F4480 color inkjet printer/copier/scanner. It replaces a similar model from 2005 which just broke. I also try doing a “screen print” with the new one, with interesting results.

The Problem is your Scanner is kind of old but is new or a old scanner?

Funny thing. Right now I’m using an HP Deskjet 932c. My family got the printer…in 1998! So my computer printer is 12 years old now! Great video, by the way.

As to the b/w image–I suspect the display’s light is so intense, the scanner sees the image as washed out, hence no color–kind of the same effect you’d get when color’s in the presence of low light–”Red is Grey and Yellow, White….But we decide which is right….” and all that….

I’ll add this–all those batteries you see on my channel–done with that laser machine. You get a ton of prints out of it before it says “Feed me.”

“There…it’s unboxed…”
Smartass…LOL!! I love it!
Next time you’re in the market, I’d take a peek at either a Kodak unit or even get a refurbished color laser. The Kodak’s cartridges are very affordable.
As for refurb color laser machines, I have a Minolta job that I got for a little over $200. Mind you the cartridges ain’t cheap, BUT you don’t change them out anywhere near as often as you would with an ink job.

What model is it?
สิงหาคม 3rd, 2010 at 12:13 pm
I think you are right on that. I think it also depends on the aftermarket brand. Some are better than others. So far I haven’t had mucn trouble with the brand I have been using bought locally. I had noitced that with some purchased on ebay I had to run the cleaning cycle more often, but then I also let the printer sit for a long time without using it.

Yes, HP ink is expensive and I learned my lesson that cheap aftermarket ink cartridges clog up and dry up really quickly.

Hey we were cheated out of the unboxing. Presto and there it is unboxed. The HP scanner and printer is nice and also saves space. I have never bought a new printer, don’t use them that often. The last one I bought was an Epson photo 785 EPX for 15.00 at an estate sale. It works good, makes good photos, and I buy the after market ink locally at a cheap price. I had an HP printer, but couldn’t get around buying their expensive ink witht he built in print head, so I stay with Epson.

I don’t know… it just started going haywire. With every page you asked it to print, it would print 2 blank sheets, jam up, print the page you wanted, jam again, and then print another 2 or 3 blank sheets!

What caused the older HP DeskJet Printer to break?
สิงหาคม 3rd, 2010 at 12:13 pm
I don’t really have a color CRT small or light enough to put on the scanner… even my 13-inch TV is pretty heavy. I should try my old Toshiba laptop, though, as it uses a passive-matrix LCD, as opposed to the active-matrix (TFT) LCDs used today.
สิงหาคม 3rd, 2010 at 12:13 pm
Strange. I’m going to do that with my LCDs and my Lexmark scanner. Let’s see what happens. Should be interesting, at the very least.

I hate unboxing videos, but I’ll do one anyway…………there it’s unboxed. haha
สิงหาคม 3rd, 2010 at 12:13 pm
Nice printer/scanner!
Haha nice, putting the LCD screen on the scanner haha
Have you tried plopping a CRT on top of it to see if it will pick up colour from that?
I’ve given up on printers. If I need something typed out, I’ll use my 1960s Smith Corona typewriter, because we bought 2 printers for our Dell Dimension 2200, and they never work properly.

I think I know why. The scanner does not see in color, it does 3 scans simultaneously, on each line of the scan it flashes a red light, then green, then blue, and on each flash it scans the line it’s scanning. The 3 lights flash so quickly that to the eye it looks like one white light. So there’s a “red” scan a “green” scan and a “blue” scan. When it’s done it puts the 3 scans together to form a full color picture. So that’s why it can’t pick up color from a screen
