HP Deskjet F2480 unboxing
daanberg.com – An unboxing of the HP Deskjet F2480. It’s not a quick’n'dirty installation – you actually need to read a little paper with instructions, and you need to follow them step-by-step to get it to work. For technology newbies, I’m not sure if I’d recommend that, but it’s not too bad. My dad’s Canon printer was worse. I didn’t get to film the installation, because the power of our house went out (little fault of a switch) and I was filming it with my computer. Well, this at least gives you an impression of setting up the printer. Cool thing about the installation it calibrates the scanner with a piece of paper that it prints at first start. And it all does it automatically. It’s awesome.

@DV2TF It’s compatible with Windows 2000 Pro all the way up to Windows 7.
I haven’t had any problems with it to this date.

I just purchased this same deskjet printer from Walmart about an hour ago. So far so good, working like a dream. It only took me 10 minutes to set up. I have Win 7 64 bit so I downloaded the drivers from hp before I hooked up the printer.

the music ?

@williamdecypher Nice!
It was very smart to download the latest, 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 from HP’s website before actually connecting the printer. That smart move has saved you approx. 15-20mins of hassling with the drivers on the CD.
64-bit is much faster than 32-bit

I have the deskjet 6500 series, and please don’t buy the 6500 becaues its a piece of shit, I reciently tried printing and it keeps on crumpling my paper over and over and I can’t wait till I get a new printer.

@klitorgazam To get back on that: I’m running Ubuntu right now, and all the functions work if you download the software from HP’s website called HPLIP. Just go to the website of HP and look for the Linux-drivers for this printer. You’ll be redirected to a different website.
If they say it’s already installed to your OS, ignore and download HPLIP. Then install and you’re done!
The printer prints and scans beautifully, just like it does on Windows.

i knw how to scan and print but can u scan someting ang save it to your computer?
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
I don’t think that’s your printer’s fault. Probably, you have paper that’s too fine for the printer’s wheels that pull the paper through the machine.
You should get a little “heavier” paper. “Copy” or “Inkjet” paper is preferred.

@daanbrg nvm i figured it out LOL
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
@bastian2515 Yes. You’ll need the software on your computer. Look for the “HP Solution Center” on your desktop or in your Start Menu.

I have this is Good but it breaks a lot
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
@daanbrg HP should send you some ohh let’s say ink cartridges for being such a good advocate of their gear.
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
@NiksDjs Probably the paper feeding axle has broken. Bring it back to the store and request a new one. That will be without costs.
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
Do you find the ink goes really quick with this printer.?.
I was thinking of buying this,it seems to have good reviews apart from being thirsty..
Anyone find this?
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
I just bought this printer yesterday.. well i got it to network print..and i’m glade works and look great…it’s awesome…my old printer..was a hp photosmart 2575..it was..over the hill 3 years old..it was time for it to die
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
@bamptonbred The printer can get a bit thirsty when you’re planning to print lots of photos. This does not count for documents that contain color – the printer switches to an ink-saving mode when printing colored text characters.

@TheMichaelBender Great! Do note that you will have to keep your computer turned on in order to keep it available to the network.
If you want it to be available on the network at all times, you will need a commercially available box that allows you to connect printers and hard drives by USB to the network. They usually have a great value, due to the ability to add multiple devices.
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
@daanbrg -no i use linux we have our own way of doing things… thanx tho
กรกฎาคม 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
@TheMichaelBender These “boxes” are compatible with Linux. You just need to install Samba (SMB) to have it working, but that’s not hard at all – it’s preconfigured in most distro’s.
