If you are trying to run one computer as a main gateway for a printer, both your computers must have the same operating system. Having Windows and Apple can not create a network printer.
If you have two Windows OS, you can setup networking like you normally would, then you can hit ‘add a printer’ and select through network on the secondary.
But since you have a macbook and windows xp, I suggest you google wireless print server or print server.

You can get a wireless print driver unit and set it up on your network. If you set a fixed IP on it you should be able to direct the print job to that location. Linksys makes a good one that comes with decent support software. I programmed one to 192.168.1.75 so multi-computers and OS’s could use it. This is above the normal wireless device range for automatic assignment, but still in the routers range. Works really well.
