hp deskjet d1470 uses the kind of cartridges which has a chip or not? you can find it out by looking at the sides of the cartridge. if it does, u can consider buying universal chip resetter. if it doesn, perhaps the ink is really finished. because if you just buy this hp deskjet, the cartridge they offer is for you to fill up the printerhead or something like that, hence, the case. But if it is not either case, then i don’t know.
good luck

This info is available if you Google it. I have done it. If these were “refilled” or “refurbished” cartridges, the “refurbisher” didn’t reset the electronics in the cartridges, if they are genuine HP cartridges, call HP technical support, they should be able to help you.
