How Can I Find The Ip Address For My Hp Photosmart C4200 Series Printer? [either From It Or Using A Mac]?

It depends on how it is connected. If there is a router between your computer and the printer, then the router should dinamically assign the IP number, and that information is available from the router.
If they are connected through a hub, try (Windows XP)
Start | Execute
cmd (enter)
arp -a (enter)

press start then hit run, type in cmd. Black screen comes up, type in ipconfig/all. Then all the information comes up.

Log into your router and see what IPs are assigned.

You shouldn’t need to find it, just plug it into your Mac and print to it. They only thing you might need to do is to go to HPs web site and download the drivers for OS X and install them.
Macs came with all generic printer drivers.

If your printer has LCD you probably can find it from there by going to menu settings. Otherwise the only way is to login to your router and look at the DHCP client table. You should find all the assigned IP in there. Now your problem is you cant login to the router. Most of the routers has reset button. Reset your router, and then try to log in via web browser by typing the default IP. You can obtain the default ip address of your router from the manual. Make sure that your router is directly pluged into the eathernet port of your PC. Disconnect every thing else. You should also be able to find the default user name and password for your router in the manual. try typing http://192.168.1.1 . which is a common IP address for routers. Another option is call tech support of your router and printer manufacturer. Try reseting the print server too. Another way is find out your PC IP through ipconfig /all and then try to ping the closest IP’s . if you get the reply back then that’s your printer IP. make sure printer and print server are on before pinging. This is hit or miss.
