Having Program Problems, Setting Up New Printer?
by admin on พ.ย..30, 2009, under Deskjet Help Forums
We bought a new printer yesterday (HP Photosmart C4585) and have 2 problems…
1 - We ‘removed’ Norton anti-virus when we bought the computer ages ago, because we prefer a different program. However, there seems to be a bit of Norton remaining, and this is refusing to allow the printer software to load. We can’t uninstall Norton again as the computer says it’s been done, and we can’t access Norton to allow the printer software to load because it says we don’t have Norton access to do anything about it…!
2 - Our other problem is that the bit of printer software that did load has added an HP toolbar to our internet browser, with stuff like HP Smart Deals & HP create. I know we can hide them, but we just don’t want these things running - they won’t be removed either!!
What can we do to resolve either of these problems? We’ve been left with a printer we can’t use, and a toolbar that we can - but very much don’t want!
Your assistance would be most gratefully received.

To uninstall Norton and all it remaining, use Revo Uninstaller. It is FREE.
You can also use Revo Uninstaller to remove HP toolbar.
You can download it here : http://www.revouninstaller.com/
And to fix your printer problem, you may need Uniblue Driver Scanner. It will scan for old and problem driver in your PC and update it for you. But it is not free.
Download it here : http://www.liutilities.com/products/driv…

Try doing an uninstall of the printer software.
For Norton, check out the folders and delete the ones that have Norton in them. Download CCLEANER from filehippo.com and this will help clean out registry entries for Norton as well (it’s free also!).
Once that is done, see if your printer driver will load.
