Canon G9 Printed Photos Are Grainy?

Can anyone tell me why my Canon G9 photos (12 megapixel) are printing out grainy on my HP 8250 Photosmart printer?? I have tried both printing directly from the camera and from the computer.

That’s noise. All digital cameras suffer from it to some degree. Though it gets worse as the sensor size decreases… the one in compacts are usually less than a eighth the size of the ones in dSLRs… and Megapixels go up.
To minimize the effect, try to shoot at the lowest ISO sensitivity possible. And also expose properly. An underexposed picture will show more noise.
