Can I Use My Hp Deskjet 940c Printer With Only The Black Print Cartridge?

My printer has two cartridges; a tricolor (about $35) and a black (about $30).
I don’t use color anyway so I was wondering if my printer would work if I only bought the black cartridge.
I could leave the empty tricolor cartridge in if it needs it to work.
Hate to buy one without the other if it won’t work without both (I’ll be buying this on-line)…..and I really can’t afford the tricolor cartridge.
Help anyone?

Yup just set it to black only, you do need to leave the empty color cartridge in.
You should have no problems. After a few years the electronics on the color cartridge will degrade and you will need to replace it at that point.

well: yes you can use “Epson Deskjet Printer that would allow Black Ink Cartriges also are Sold as Replacement Kits

That’s what I do, open the printer’s driver property and set it to black.
