Can Anyone Tell Me Why My Wireless Printer Won’t Print?
I’ve recently bought a HP Photosmart All-In-One Wireless Printer C4580 and we’ve constantly had problems with it, first it couldn’t find the wireless connection to install onto my laptop (Vista) but after phoning the helpline we got that fixed and it now appears on my laptop. Sometimes it appears in the Printer folder as Offline, so i right click it and go to ‘Use printer online’ and it says it’s ready. As soon as i try to print something though, it says Error, both in my print box and on the printer icon itself, taking the place of the Online message. Does anyone know why this is happening or how i can fix it? We’ve tried all the suggested fixes on the HP website and in the manual but nothing seems to work. It’s been driving me insane for a long time. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance… Elle xx

Hi Elle,
Usually you connect the printer to your wireless network, then connect to your printer which will be networked.
First you need to setup the printer to connect to the wireless network, you select your SSID (the name of your network) and enter your passkey. You also need to assign an IP address, usually something like 192.168.1.100.
Then in vista goto add a printer, add a local printer, create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port, leave device type as Autodetect, Hostname or ip address you enter the ip address you set the printer up as. It should recognise what printer it is and install the driver, you may need to insert the CD that came with it.
Now if all has gone to plan it will work fine.
