Broken Printer/scanner?

I have a HP Photosmart c3180 All In One – Printer-Scanner-Copier. A few months ago my ink cartridge leaked inside the entire thing and I never cleaned it out… but now I need to use the scanner and every time I turn it on it wont let me do anything until I do something with the cartridges, it kinda just spazzes. Is there any way I can get it to let me just use the scanner part? Is there another way I can upload my drawing on the computer? thanks in advance (:

try to remove the cartridges. wipe the gold contact both on the cartridges and printer. i think it wont work because of the short circuit between two or more pin.
then try to run the scanner with no cartridges installed
