directly from hp. after the software download is where Im having the problems. can someone help me from there. The printer is still not working and trying to get help from hp is a joke…thanks

maybe you not download driver for your system operating.
let’s try again. go to http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec… , (this is official site of HP) ,select your language , select your system operating and click download now for all driver and software.
go out cable for your printer !!!!
run this driver and install software. restart your pc and connect cable for printer . wait to recognize that printer and ready to use. go to printer and faxes – right click with your new printer – set as a default printer. ctrl+P – print test page. that’s all !
